Vitamin B12 Deficiency

Vitamin B12 deficiency, also known as B12 deficiency anaemia or folate deficiency anaemia, happens when the body does not have enough vitamin B12. The main symptoms are long term tiredness and fatigue.

Vitamin B12 is absorbed through foods and is found in;
– meat
– dairy products
– green vegetables such as peas, broccoli and brussel sprouts
B12 deficiency is diagnosed by consultation with one of our friendly GPs and a blood test. The first line of treatment is supplementary injections, then, depending on the cause of B12 deficiency, you will be advised to take
B12 vitamin tablets or continue with injections (normally one every few weeks).
