Pubic Lice
Pubic lice are small (2mm) parasitic insects that live in coarse body hair, such as pubic hair. They are spread by close physical contact (such as sexual contact).

Signs and Symptoms
Most people who have pubic lice have one or more of the following symptoms:
•Itching around the site of pubic hair
•Blue spots on the area, thighs and abdomen
•Black powder on pubic hair and in underwear
•Inflammation of the area
•Blood spots on underwear
Diagnosis
Pubic lice are diagnosed by examination of the area by a healthcare professional such as a Doctor or registered nurse.
Treatment
Pubic lice are eradicated by using a special lotion which you can apply at home. It normally needs to be repeated a few days afterwards. Sometimes, you may need to use another product after this as some lice have developed resistance to treatments.
