Also known as a sexually transmitted disease tests or STI tests, this group of tests can help you detect diseases and infections that are spread via sexual contact. Early identification of these conditions can prevent the conditions becoming more serious, stop you from infecting other people and help alleviate painful or embarrassing symptoms.
If you are or have been sexually active and you think you may have an STD, or, if you would like a check up for peace of mind, we recommend a general Sexual Health Check for your peace of mind.
Why Have an STD Test?
If you are or have been sexually active and you think you may have a sexual transmitted disease (STD). Or, if you would like a check up for peace of mind a STD test may be recommended. As many STDs may not have symptoms, a test is the only way to know for sure.
What Does a Sexual Health Check Involve?
Depending on which infections we are testing for and your sex, the tests will be carried out in different ways. Before the test, you will have a chat with one of our friendly Doctors or nurses about your medical and sexual history. This will help determine which tests you require.
The tests may involve urine samples, swabs from your cervix or penis, examination of your genitals and/ or blood tests.
